Reverend Marlene Steenburg, B.S.N , M.S.N, M.Div
Reverend Marlene Steenburg became the pastor of Memorial Park Baptist Church on April 1, 2007. Prior to that she was the Assistant Pastor at First Baptist Church of Owego. Pastor Marlene obtained her Masters of Divinity Degree from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary outside of Philadelphia, PA and was ordained in the American Baptist faith tradition in 2006. Prior to going into pastoral ministry, Pastor Marlene was a Registered Nurse and a Certified Diabetes Educator.
Her faith journey began under the guidance of a concerned aunt who faithfully took her and her siblings to church as children. At the age of 12, Pastor Marlene recognized her need for Jesus Christ and accepted him as her Savior during a bleak winter night in the midst of much turmoil in the home. She and her twin sister, Galene, were baptized by immersion a few months later in the Church of the Brethren of Bunkerstown in rural Pennsylvania.
Passions in Life
Pastor Marlene is passionate about many things but most of all about God’s amazing love and care for all of us. She believes the Holy Bible is from God Himself and strives not only to live by God’s Holy Word but also help others understand it as a guidebook for life. She loves children, chocolate and the Phillies and yes she is aware that she now lives in enemy territory with Yankee and Mets fans all around her. Please pray for her safety!
Pastor Marlene is married to Rev. G. Terry Steenburg, regional missionary and evangelist to Africa under the auspices of He’s Alive Ministries. They have four married children scattered across the United States and 11 grandchildren. A lifelong Pennsylvanian, she and her husband relocated to the Southern Tier to the area where Terry grew up as a child.
