Our Doctrines:
We are a Bible-centered church and are affiliated with the American Baptist Churches, USA. Believing that God does not wish any to perish, we believe God has called men and women to serve Him in our community and around the world. We place our faith wholly in the Lord Jesus Christ for our salvation and follow to the best of our ability the Biblical Principles and Distinctive Baptist Beliefs below that are supported by God’s Holy Word:
Biblical Principles
Distinctive Baptist Beliefs
Our Church Convenant
Acknowledging Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Savior, and recognizing our continual need for personal re-dedication, we covenant with God and one another to endeavor with the aid of the Holy Spirit:
Biblical Principles
- The Unity and Trinity of God, who exists in three persons- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19, John 16: 5-15)
- The pre-eminence of Christ as our divine Savior and Lord. He was born of the Virgin Mary, crucified for our sins, resurrected bodily, and now sits at the right hand of the Father. (Isaiah 9: 6-7, 7:14; John 1: 1-14; I Corinthians 15: 3-4; Colossians 1: 15-20)
- The supreme authority of the Holy Bible as our only rule of faith and practice. (II Timothy 3: 16-17, Psalm 119: 105)
- The privilege of each believer to have direct access to God through prayer. (Matthew 5: 9-13, Romans 8:15, Philippians 4: 4-6, Hebrews 4: 14-16)
- The spiritual unity of all believers within Memorial Park Baptist Church through the bond of peace. I Corinthians 12: 12-27, 13; Ephesians 2: 11-22, 4: 1-6)
- The symbolic ordinances of believer's baptism by immersion, if able, and the Lord's Supper in obedience to the command of Christ. (Matthew 26: 26-30, Romans 6: 4, I Corinthians 11:23-26)
- The return of the Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrection, and the judgment of the just and unjust. (Acts 1: 10-11, I Thessalonians 4: 16-17, II Peter 3: 8-10)
Distinctive Baptist Beliefs
- A church membership of those who profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. (John 1: 12, Romans 10:13)
- The autonomy of the local church. (Acts 2: 42-47)
- The solemn obligation of majority rule, guaranteeing equal rights to all and special privilege to none. (James 2: 1-12)
- The complete separation of Church and State. (Matthew 22: 21)
- A world-wide program of missionary fervor and evangelism in obedience with the final command of Jesus. (Matthew 28: 19-20, Acts 1:8)
Our Church Convenant
Acknowledging Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Savior, and recognizing our continual need for personal re-dedication, we covenant with God and one another to endeavor with the aid of the Holy Spirit:
- To practice Christian love in all our relationships;
- To reflect Christ faithfully in home life and public life;
- To commit ourselves to the disciplines advocated by our Lord; namely, daily prayer, regular worship, study of God's Word, Christian fellowship, and dedicated giving of time, talent, and money;
- To respect our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit by avoiding experiences which defile the body, and prevent us from witnessing to others;
- To witness to others of Christ's redemptive work in our lives.
- We further confess our joy in Christ, praising Him for His saving grace, His constant presence with us, and His faithful provision of all our needs.
