World Mission Offering
World Mission Offering
The World Mission Offering (WMO) is the offering for International Ministries (IM). IM has been in ministry for over 200 years and has 120+ global servants, 900+ volunteers, home staff, and 250+ international
partners in 70 countries. International Ministries works cross-culturally to invite people to become disciples of Jesus Christ and to proclaim, through both word and deed, God’s reign of justice, peace and abundant life for all creation. They also help equip the body of Christ to engage in God’s mission. WMO can be given generally or specifically to people or projects that we want to support. In the past much of our WMO has been directed to specific people and projects.
The specific people are:
1) Dan and Sarah Chetti who serve in Lebanon. Dan works at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary and Sarah works with migrant workers and fights against human trafficking.
2) Ann and Bill Clemmer, who reside in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). They serve as regional consultants and work with IM partners Heal Africa and IMA World Health.
3) Patti and Tim Long who serve in Baja California, Mexico. Patti ministers as a special education teacher
and Tim serves in leadership development with the Baja Baptist Seminary of Mexicali, teaching present and future church leaders in Mexico.
4) Lori and Matt Mann serve in Laos and Thailand. In Laos, they work to bring hope and restoration to children and youth who have suffered or are at risk for the worst forms of abuse and exploitation. 5)
Becky and Mike Mann, who serve in Thailand. They assist hill tribe people and tribal farmers with clean water, sanitation, agriculture, education, health, and cash crops. 6) Peter and Sarah McCurdy, who
serve in Mexico City and focus on theological education and spiritual formation and also children’s health and education. 7) Katherine and Wayne Niles, who serve in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Their focus is on health, development, and relief projects. For more info, go visit https://www.internationalministries.org.
The WMO will be collected in October. Prayerfully consider this great ministry.
Mission Updates:
1. The One Great Hour of Sharing Offering (OGHS) was kicked off August 15. There are a few weeks left to this offering and as of August 22nd, $40 was given. It’s not too late to give. There have
been many challenges in 2021. Not only does the world need to recuperate from the global pandemic, but disasters have also continued to occur (like the earthquake in Haiti). Displaced populations from wars and fighting remain vulnerable (Afghanistan). And hundreds of millions of people around the world struggle under
the weight of poverty. Events of the past year have shown us that even in times when we cannot be physically together in one place, our offerings to support One Great Hour of Sharing continue to
strengthen our church’s presence all over the world: providing water to the thirsty, food for the hungry, and hope for the weary. When we give to One Great Hour of Sharing, we “Let Love Flow.” Our generosity ensures that, even during times of uncertainty, the transforming power of love continues to change the world. For
more information, go to: www.abc-oghs.org. Consider this vital ministry.
2. June’s noisy offering is going to the Salvation Army. $125 was given.
3. July’s noisy offering was for Mom’s House in Johnson City. $121 was
given.
4. August’s noisy offering is for the backpack ministries. It will be
collected August 29.
5. Erika’s Seminary Education: Erika has moved to Illinois and started her chaplaincy program. We sent her $800 for ½ of May’s rent and $350 for June. $350/month has been pledged to her and will be sent
to her each month. We have had an opportunity to visit with Erika in person as she came back to New York State to visit in August during her break.
6. As a result of the Leadership Board’s evaluating our vision and setting goals for 2021, there are several community outreach activities that have been completed or are in progress.
The pandemic has affected all of our lives. BUT we are still called to reach people for Christ. Consider writing someone a letter or sending a card or make a call or a meal for someone. That little contact may be the show of God’s Love for that person. Consider giving generously to the World Mission Offering
